Engineered Flooring Options

Engineered flooring is a style of flooring in which there are layers of wood secured together in a cross type pattern, and topped off by a layer of hardwood. These layers make the wood react less to environmental changes and help to keep boards from warping in more moist conditions.

Certain engineered floors can be used over radiant heating systems. Engineered floors come either pre-finished or unfinished. The unfinished floors are sanded and finished on site.

Engineered floors differ from laminate floors in the fact that engineered contains a layer of real hardwood on the surface, where laminate does not.

Engineered floors can be installed many different ways in many different areas. Most engineered floors can be installed above or below grade. They leave a lot more options for the homeowner to  install wood where it may not have been an option in the past.
