The "Rochester" Style

We at Rochester Hardwood Floors of Utica got our company name based off of the style of flooring known in central NY as "Rochester flooring." Rochester Flooring is a style of hardwood flooring that was popular in central NY mostly in the 1930's - 1950's. It is found all over our local area, but prevalent in certain sections such as South Utica, New Hartford, and Clinton. The style is noticeable by the presence of putty - filled nail heads visible throughout the entire floor.

While many widths are available, the most popular sizes are usually 2", 1 1/2", and 1 1/3". There are also Rochester plank sizes available in 3", 5", and 7". While the style is not as popular today as it once was, Rochester style floors are still installed on a regular basis. Their many grain patterns and traditionally narrow widths make Rochester floors a floor with a unique look that is appealing to many homeowners who like a nice variation of color in their floor.
